TECHNOTHREADS AT SCIENCE GALLERY: EXHIBITION & CALL

Technothreads is an exhibition all about the creative sparks that fly when the worlds of fashion and science collide. The exhibition, running from 26th April - 26th July 2008, offers viewers a glimpse into the future of fashion in a world where Biotech and Nanotech are combined with traditional craft and Haute Couture skills. With work from designers such as Walter van Beirendonck, Yoshiki Hishinuma and Freedom of Creation, it promises to show off the most innovative, cutting edge and exciting designers the world has to offer as well as raising issues for global debate, such as the use of tissue culture to produce semi-living clothes.

Join: We need techno and textile artists and scientists, fashion gurus, experimental costume designers or inventors and dynamic companies. Are you open to new wearable ideas? Why not materialize them! We are presenting the following events as part of Technothreads:

Show & Sell @ Technothreads
Do you have an idea for experimental outfits or wearable designs using experimental materials? Bargaining and bartering for pieces will be encouraged at the event. Interested in taking part? Then please send us a 1-page proposal by Wednesday 7th May 2008 detailing what you might
bring along, your requirements or what you might want to sell. 'Show & Sell' takes place on Wednesday 21st May 2008 from 19.00 and selected work will be shown in the Flux café/club space on the same date.

Note: No development funding will be available for these events, as it is a platform for showcasing and demonstrating work to the general public. Selling is NOT a requirement for taking part.

Various panel discussions, workshops, talks and films are programmed to coincide with this exhibition. For details see website: www.sciencegallery.com
