IDI member Peter Mac Cann awarded best lighting product 2009 at Homes and Gardens Classic design awards
Following on from success at the FX design awards held in Lodon in October, where the Jack desking system by John Walsh won first prize in the Workspace Systems Furniture category,
another Made* product has been awarded a prestigous UK design prize.
The TIE pendant by Peter Mac Cann was last week awarded best lighting product 2009 at Homes and Gardens Classic design awards, at the event held at theV&A museum in Knightsbridge.
TIE was selected as winner, by a judging panel made up of design professionals, journalists and critics, from an initial shortlist of 6 products and ahead of runners-up Ron Arad
and Ross Lovegrove.
TIE as described by the judges -
The idea appears simple : two metal cylinders of roll-formed aluminium, one inside the other- However, in execution it is more complex, consisting of sections that seem to have been cut away and a shape that alters dramatically as you move around it.
